mase checks puff at radio station-v103

Creative loafing By B. Knight

Mason “Mase” Betha may be the first artist to survive Diddy’s Bad Boy label curse. What curse, might you ask? Have you ever noticed that Bad Boy acts usually get shelved after their first CD? Or something happens and a second or a third album is never released? Think about it: Biggie, Junior M.A.F.I.A, Craig Mack, Black Rob, Shyne, Total, Dream, Carl Thomas, Mario Winans, Loon, The LOX, Danity Kane, just to name a few.

During Diddy’s recent visit to V-103’s Ryan Cameron show to promote his new Dirty Money albumLast Train to Paris, Mase surprisingly showed up and got Diddy to sign what appeared to be a contract releasing him from Bad Boy after a 10 year delay. It turns out, according to Miss Info, that the paper signed was only an appearance release form which allows Mase to appear on other artists’ songs but doesn’t release him from his Bad Boy contract.

Still, there may be hope for the slow motion lyricist and part-time Atlanta pastor to resurrect his music career. It’s comical, to say the least, because in the video aired by Shuddup.com, Diddy looks a tad bit bewildered by the whole thing, as if it was a surprise that Mase was showing up. Diddy played it cool, though, and signed the paper while Mase’s “Feel So Good” ironically played on-air. Over the years, Diddy has been vocal about refusing to let any of his artists out of contracts. Mase must’ve had his whole church intercede on his behalf and worn his extra big diamond encrusted cross that day, because it could have only been an act of God that got Diddy to sign those “freedom papers,” as Mase referred to them.

Several years have passed since Diddy defused the hype surrounding Mase’s possible signing to 50 Cent’s G-Unit label by refusing to free Mase from his contract — even after the MC left the rap game to pursue his calling as a pastor. It brought a whole new meaning to the catch phrase “Bad Boy for Life.” According to 50Diddy refused to accept anything less than $2 million to buy out Mase’s contract. Uncertain that Mase’s album would sell well enough to make up for that type of investment, 50 dropped it and that was the end of that buzz.

Mase ends the video by saying he’s “not used to Diddy doing nice stuff.” Before he gets all verklempt, I suggest he reads the fine print.

8 super food fat burners!

8 Foods That Fight Fat

Want to lose weight as you chow down? Your wish is granted! (I promise, this is no fairy tale.) Your supermarket is filled with foods that studies show have lipid-melting powers to help melt fat and keep you slim. Stock up on these fat-fighting super bites, and you'll be trimmer even as you indulge. Read on to discover the eight foods that deserve a permanent spot in your fridge—and in your diet!

Almonds These yummy nuts are high in alpha-linolenic acid, which can accelerate your metabolism of fats. In fact, dieters who ate 3 ounces of almonds daily slashed their weight and body-mass index by 18 percent, while those who skipped the nuts reduced both numbers less— just 11 percent—a study in the International Journal of Obesity revealed. Chomp almonds à la carte (limit yourself to 12 per serving to keep calories in check). I get a pack at Starbucks and nibble throughout my day. Or sprinkle them into a recipe such asBlack Bean–Almond Pesto Chicken. Go nuts!

Berries I tell my daughter, "These are nature's candy!" Turns out they're also your body's best friends. Strawberries, raspberries and other vitamin C–spiked fruit can supercharge your workout, helping you burn up to 30 percent more fat, research from Arizona State University at Mesa has found. If they're not in season, buy the little gems frozen in a bulk-sized bag so you'll always have them on hand to whip up a Berry Bliss Smoothie or Strawberry-Sunflower Pops, regardless of whether berries are in season.

Cinnamon Adding 1/4 teaspoon to your plate may prevent an insulin spike—an uptick that tells your body to store fat. Sprinkle it on your morning cereal or coffee or on your yogurt in the A.M., or savor it in Apple-Cinnamon-Raisin Oatmeal.

Mustard It's heaven on a soft pretzel, but mustard may also be a weight loss wonder. Turmeric, the spice that gives mustard its color, may slow the growth of fat tissues, a study in the journal Endocrinology finds. Use it on sandwiches instead of mayo, or sprinkle turmeric on cauliflower pre-roasting to give it a kick. Try it on tuna salad—I promise it adds zest.

Oranges This citrus fruit, which contains fat-blasting compounds known as flavones, deserves to be your main squeeze. Women who ate the most flavones had a much lower increase in body fat over a 14-year period, a study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition notes. Eat oranges sliced or swig fresh OJ (including pulp!) to get the best benefit from the fruit.

Soybeans Reason to toss a half cup on your salad? Soybeans are rich in choline, a compound that blocks the absorption of fat and breaks down fatty deposits. Oh, and they're addictively delish! But if breast cancer runs in your family, experts suggest you should talk to your doc before adding soy to your diet.

Sweet potatoes The colorful spuds' high-fiber content means they keep your insulin steadier than their white sisters, which means less fat packed on your hips, research finds. Top a small baked tater with lowfat cottage cheese for a tempting side dish, or whip up Miso Soup With Sweet Potato Dumplings.

Swiss cheese Calcium-rich foods reduce fat-producing enzymes and increase fat breakdown, and Swiss has more calcium than many of its cheesy peers. Choose the reduced-fat variety, such as Sargento. Slip it into your sandwich, put it on top of high-fiber crackers or use it for a healthier grilled cheese. Yum!

when thanking god is wrong!

An Oakland Raiders cornerback claims he was penalized on Sunday for making a religious display while celebrating an interception

After picking off a Matt Schaub(notes) pass in the end zone, Oakland Raiders cornerback Chris Johnson celebrated by dropping to his knees and raising his arms in triumph. He was instantly flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for excessive celebration.

Johnson later complained that he was whistled for thanking God:

"I'm just getting on my knees giving my respect to God. I don't see how that's a personal foul or anything like that."

He actually stated exactly why it's a personal foul in the first sentence and the reasoning has nothing to do with religion. A rule instituted in 2006 prohibits NFL players from celebrating in the end zone by "going to the ground to celebrate a touchdown or using the ball as a prop." The instant Johnson fell to his knees he violated the rule. After he did that, Johnson could have read scripture, done a silent prayer or helped an old lady across the street and it wouldn't have mattered. (And, incidentally, it looks a lot more like Johnson is asking the heavens to praise him, rather than the other way around.)

So, there is no religion controversy here (despite attempts to start one by some Bay Area bloggers), but there is still an issue, namely that the NFL's touchdown celebration rules are inconsistently enforced and completely hypocritical.

It's not OK for Johnson to go to the ground in celebration/prayer after an interception, but Jared Allen(notes)can fall to his knees during his lame sack dance? And the Lambeau Leap is fine, but players can't coordinate a touchdown high five? And what's the difference if a player raises his arms in triumph while on a knee but not while standing on two feet?

I'm loathe to defend a guy who obnoxiously celebrates an interception in a game in which his team is down by 13 points, but Johnson is correct in that there's no reason getting on his knees should be a personal foul. But it's not the fault of the official who flagged him, it's the fault of the NFL owners who voted three years ago to restrict celebrations.

CHRIS ROCK GET SUED

chrisrock

Chris Rock is getting sued by Regina Kimbell, a director who claims she showed Rock her film “Nappy Roots” in 2007 and that’s where the idea for “Good Hair” came from BASICALLY SAYING CHRIS YOU STOLE HER DAMN MOVIE.

According to Regina, she showed Chris her 2005 documentary on the set of his sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris” back in 2007 and he stole the premises of her film to make his own “Good Hair.”  “Nappy Roots features celebs who discuss different hairstyles such as the Afro, the Jheri curl and dreadlocks. Chris Rock’s film pretty much does the same. Regina is seeking no less than 5 million in damages. CHRIS IF YOU STOLE THAT LADY IDEA YOU ARE SLUM OF THE EARTH!!

Rio beats Chicago for the 2016 olympic games

COPENHAGEN (AP)—Finally, South America gets an Olympics. The 2016 Games are going to Rio de Janeiro.

In a vote of high drama, the bustling Brazilian carnival city of beaches, mountains and samba beat surprise finalist Madrid, which got a big helping hand from a very influential friend.

Chicago was knocked out in the first round—in one of the most shocking defeats ever in International Olympic Committee voting. Even Tokyo, which had trailed throughout the race, did better—eliminated after Chicago in the second round.

Rio spoke to IOC members’ consciences: the city argued that it was simply unfair that South America has never hosted the games, while Europe, Asia and North America have done so repeatedly. Chicago had long been seen as a front-runner and got the highest possible level of support—from President Barack Obama himself. But he only spent a few hours in the Danish capital where the vote was held and left before the result was announced. Former IOC member Kai Holm said that the brevity of his appearance may have counted against him.

The short stopover was “too business-like,” Holm said. “It can be that some IOC members see it as a lack of respect.”

Senior Australian IOC member Kevan Gosper surmised that Asian voters may have banded together for Tokyo in the first round, at Chicago’s expense.

“I’m shocked,” Gosper said. “The whole thing doesn’t make sense other than there has been a stupid bloc vote.”

He worried that the shock exit could do “untold damage” to the already testy relations between the IOC and the U.S. Olympic Committee. They had recent flare-ups over revenue sharing and a USOC TV network.

IOC President Jacques Rogge holds up the name of Rio de Janeiro after they were awarded the 2016 Olympic Games during the 121st International Olympic Committee session at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Friday, Oct. 2, 2009.
IOC President Jacques Rogge ho…
AP - Oct 2, 1:08 pm EDT

“To have the president of the United States and his wife personally appear, then this should happen in the first round is awful and totally undeserving,” Gosper said.

The European-dominated IOC’s last two experiences in the United States were marked by controversy: the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics were sullied by a bribery scandal and logistical problems and a bombing hit the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

Obama had held out the enticing prospect of a Chicago games helping to reconnect the United States with the world after the presidency of George W. Bush. He told the IOC earlier Friday that the “full force of the White House” would be applied so “visitors from all around the world feel welcome and will come away with a sense of the incredible diversity of the American people.”

TO ALL MY CHICAGOANS

Let me be the first to say I AM GLAD CHICAGO DIDNT GET THE OLYMPICS what is going on with you people in that city  GET FREAKING REAL did you not see in the last 2 weeks the news, first a guy was shot TO DEATH in his head during road rage, then a 16 year old straight  A  high school student was beat to death by 20 people, then another lil 12yo kid was beat in the head with a pole 2 days ago and is in ER as we speak OLYMPICS MY ASS.. Try 2024 THANKS BUT NO THANKS CHICAGO!!!

KANYE WEST AND LADY GAGA TOUR CANCELLED

Lady Gaga and Kanye West

So i heard
Kanye West's much-hyped "Fame Kills" tour with  the infamous Lady Gaga
has been canceled -- with no reason why as yet given for this all of a sudden
cancelation!.

even thou that a rep from Live Nation said on Wednesday afternoon  that

the concerts was still a go ... Nation announced Thursday morning they

were pulling the plug on the tour, atleast thats what TMZ is stating.

Still No explanation has been posted -- but the VMA backlash and

Kanye's upcoming criminal court date could have

been some added factors.

The tour was scheduled to kick off in  the hot state

of Arizona in November, scheduled at the IZOD

Center in East RutherfordN.J. on Dec. 22. The

intensive itinerary was set to end in Dallas on

January 24 2010

Given West’s admittedly much-needed break

from work, the original announcement of the tour

surprised many.

After stunning the Video Music Awards by

storming the stage during Taylor Swift’s

Best Female Video acceptance speech,

he revealed on the Jay Leno Show premiere that

he hadn’t really taken time to mourn the loss of his

mother, Donda, who died in November 2007.

“I’ve never taken the time off to really -- you

know, just music after music and tour after tour,” he said

 on the show.

Gaga, of course, also had a big night at the VMAs: she

wowed the crowd with her trademark over the top outfits

and a wild performance of “Paparazzi,” and took home a

 Best New Artist award.
